“Something that I learned from my mother -- she's ninety six years old -- she jams me up when she sees me making something and says, "No. That's just not good enough. You've got to do better. You're never too old to learn how to do it better." Chef Roslyn Spence has been a Culinary Arts and Baking Instructor at the Los Angeles Trade Technical College for nearly 25 years. She knows you’re never too young or too old to become better. Chef Roslyn earned a Grande Diplome in Cuisine and Pastry from the famed Le Cordon Bleu Culinary School in Paris. Most recently, Roslyn was the co-main subject -- along with her mother Edith -- in the documentary, 'God Bless the Cook', a film about women in the food industry and the power of food in defining relationships, culture, and personality. Listen to this episode to learn more about the power of food, passion, elusive perfection, and pride in a job well done. You’ll benefit from the reminder Roslyn shares with her students, “You're better than that. And you're going to have to step it up."
